A small gesture, a big impact

Many years ago, I discovered the power of little things.  I also realized that most Servant Leaders I know, utilized the power of little things to make a difference in people’s lives. It wasn’t the big things, the grand things, the expensive things that made the most difference, no, it was the little things.

Servant Leaders have the uncanny ability to identify something small they can do for someone and then go out of their way to do it and move on.  They don’t announce it, declare it, tell everyone about what they’ve done, they just do it, quietly, sometimes even secretly, with no fanfare.

One thing I discovered that was the most powerful little thing was a handwritten note.  Certainly, it is a small gesture, but it makes a big impact.  To take the time out to write something personal to an employee, colleague, friends or relative can make such a difference in their lives.

Words make a difference.  The right words can sooth the soul, heal, mend, empower, and connect with people.

A handwritten note is for sure the most powerful thing you can do for someone, but just behind that is a greeting card that expresses the thoughts you have about someone. In most greeting cards you can add a line or two of your own words.

The reality is that many people don’t know what to say.   They want the words to be an expression of what they feel about the person they are sending it to.  The ultimate is when a greeting card you send speaks to the person’s heart, moves them at an emotional level and encourages them.  It may even build up their faith.

Probably the most read book in the Bible is the Psalms.  Psalms is nothing other than a collection of poems that speak to our heart.  “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me besides sill waters. He restores my soul.” (Psalm 23: 1-3a, ESV). Do those words not help you, speak to you, give you a sense of peace and calm?  I know they do to millions of people throughout the world. I don’t know about you, but I re-read them often.

That’s the way it is as well with greeting cards.  I know many people who save the cards people send to them.  They are treasures.  Many of us return to these cards again and again.  We re-read them to remind us of the love and care expressed to us by people that mean a lot to us.

Although it may seem like such a small gesture, it means so much to the people we send a card to them.  That’s why I created Personally Crafted Greeting Cards, from a Christian’s heart, designed for the special people in your life, for their special occasions.
