Servant Leaders are passionate about grace, in fact grace is their driving force.
Grace seems like an odd thing to connect with leadership. Grace seems soft, easy, and undisciplined.
The catch phrase “leave it at the door,” or “it’s not personal, it’s business” seems to imply that your personal life has nothing to do with your professional life.
But the truth is that everything’s connected. Your personal life is directly connected to your professional life. Your life skills are connected to your job skills. Out of the substance of our lives flow the quality of our work. Grace understands this.
The Bible says, “the purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but a person of understanding draws them out.” (Prov. 20:5, paraphrased) Grace, in the context of leadership, draws people out. It shows them who they are and what they are capable of–their potential. Simply put, grace brings the best out of people.
Lead with grace.
