Sometimes the best leadership you can provide is friendship.

Spending time together as friends, being with each other, listening to each other, playing together and praying together. Friendship is a kind of leadership.

I’m not talking about being “best friends” or “BFF’s.” Not every friend can be a best friend.

The friendship aspect of leadership can take place by having coffee together, sharing a meal, or sending someone a note of kindness. The friendship aspect of leadership happens when we simply show someone, we care by being there for them.

One of the best leaders I know met with me every other Friday morning at 6:30am for breakfast. We discussed life together, the challenges we had and the things that were important together.

It can be that “simple” to be a leader.

Be a friend to others, be a leader
