Times of Uncertainty

We live in uncertain times.

The Corona Virus has overcome the world.  The world has stood still.  It’s scary.

People are getting sick left and right.  The sports world has ceased to exist.  Events have cancelled. People are losing their jobs.  Worse yet, some of the most vulnerable of our society are dying because of this virus.

I have been around the block a few times and other than 9/11 I’ve never seen anything like this take the whole country—world actually—down.

How, in the midst of all this, do we make it through?  How do we function?  What perspective should we have? How do we get through this?

  1. Realize, we’re all in this together. Let’s help each other.
  2. Understand as much as you can. About the virus, about what’s happening out there.
  3. Exercise extreme patience and discipline. This is going to take some time to work through but “this too shall pass.”
  4. Turn to your source of faith. My number four is really my number one.  I turn to God.
    1. Here’s what gives me hope:
      1. The future is in God’s hands: “You can make many plans,
but the Lord’s purpose will prevail Proverbs 19:21(NLT)
      2. God Cares: The Lordis good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him, Nahum 1:7 (NIV)
  • God heals: I will comfort those who mourn,
bringing words of praise to their lips.
May they have abundant peace, both near and far,”
says the Lord, who heals them. Isa 57:18,19
  1. God wants us to seek Him: Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him. 1 Chronicles 16:11 (NLT)
  2. All things work out: And we know that God causes everything to work togetherfor the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 (NLT)
