If anything, 2020 proved that almost within a “moment” things can turn upside-down. What was right is left, what was up is down, what was normal isn’t normal, what we could expect we can no longer expect.
So, what do you do when your business, which was, stable, thriving, and alive turns upside down and now it is barely getting by, floundering, on life-support, and you don’t know what to do next?
What do you do when your job, your career, which was going well, smoothly, was something you could count on, enjoy, and supply your financial needs is no longer there…..And there doesn’t seem to be an available job to replace it?
There are eight steps that we must go through to fully adapt to our new normal, our new reality. They are:
Grieve and accept
Get wise counsel
Be open to something different
Pray
Turn the corner
Find your place
Make an impact
Live in gratefulness
It’s important to note that this isn’t a formula nor is it a linear list. One doesn’t necessarily come before the other and some of these things happen concurrently. I have found these elements to be present in my life when things went upside-down. I’ve lost everything I had….twice! I’ve been through the challenges of life and knocked off course many times. I’ve had to reorient myself through multiple changes—changes I didn’t expect or want. And as I reflect, these are the “stages” or phases I went through for things to be turned right-side-up again. Even as I write this blog I am going through these stages again, as my life circumstances have changed dramatically again.
So, for the next eight postings we will cover each of these steps to gain some insight and wisdom on how to get right-side up once again.
